Workshop – Private David Kejick DCM Armoury, Kenora, Ontario – June 10, 2023

On June 10, 2023, the Kenora Scottish Pipes and Drums held a half-day Pipe Band Workshop at the Private David Kejick DCM Armoury in Kenora. The workshop was led by our good friend and mentor, Wes Sheppard. The main focus of the workshop was to help the band get ready for its first gig of the year: Annual Cadet Review (ACR).

The workshop focussed on processes for getting the pipers tuned, ensuring that all chanters and drones were together and brushing up on marching starts, wheels, cut-offs and dismissals. Although primarily concerned with piping, Wes did spend some time with the drummers reviewing their roles and processes.

To top off the workshop, we ran through the critical parts of the upcoming ACR several times until we felt confident that we could give the audience and the cadets a good show.
