Annual Cadet Review – Private David Kejick, DCM, Kenora, Ontario (June 11, 2024)
On June 11, 2024 the Kenora Scottish Pipes and Drums with the assistance of Wes Sheppard, piped the Army and Air Cadets into the drill hall at the Private David Kejick, DCM, Armoury for their annual review and awards ceremony.
The cadets were marched into the drill hall with the standard 4/4 set – Scotland the Brave, Rowan Tree and Wings. This year the band was also reviewed by the reviewing officer as part of the ceremonies. I believe we passed muster.
We accompanied the cadets in a march past and finally marched them out of the hall with the standard 3/4 set – The Green Hill of Tyrol and When the Battle’s O’re.
After the bands and cadets were dismissed, everyone was treated to a variety of finger foods and got a chance to chat with the cadets and their families.
Special thanks go out to Wes Sheppard who made the trek down from Winnipeg for this special occasion, helped to get the band tuned and for all of his ongoing help with the Kenora Scottish. A big “Atta Boy” goes out to Mason Todoschuk for his very first public performance on the Bass drum. Keep up the good work!
