Online Competition – May 31, 2020

On May 31, 2020, Liam, Macy and Terri Forster competed in the Prairie Pipe Band Association of Manitoba’s online competition. They placed first, second and third. Because it was an online competition, they took a video of each of their solos and sent it to be judged. Because they all finished on the podium, they all received certificates.

Macy placed second out of five other people. She competed in the Grade five 2/4 March. Her solo was “My Love She’s But a Lassie Yet”. Macy has been working on her solo since the beginning of the last fall, so she is happy with her results and she is excited to keep competing. This was Macy’s first solo competition. Liam placed third out of nine in the Grade 4, 2/4 March. He played “William Ross and Prince Charles”. Liam has been working on his solo since last fall. Liam has viewed this as a great learning opportunity and is very pleased with his results. Terri placed first although she was the only competitor in her category. Despite this, she put in a lot of work and put together a good performance. She has been working on her solo for 1 month. Terri has enjoyed this experience and hopes to compete again soon. This was Terri’s first solo competition.

With top finishes in all events that they competed in, it has shown that they are dedicated and share a passion for Scottish music. The plan now it to keep on competing and hope to use their score sheets to become better players.
