Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) – May 8, 2020
May 8, 2020 marked the 75th anniversary of VE-Day (Victory in Europe). In commemoration of the event, Kenora Scottish Pipe-Sergeant Cecil Burns paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to those who contributed to the victory, by playing several tunes at the cenotaphs in Kenora and Keewatin. No official gatherings were scheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic so none of the usual crowds were gathered to pay tribute, but it is important to honour those who died and those who served, since not many of the veterans are still with us today.
