Canada Day Ceremonies – Kenora & Keewatin, Ontario – July 1, 2025
On July 1st this year the Kenora Scottish Pipes and Drums was joined by Wes Sheppard and members of the Winnipeg St Andrews Pipe Band for 2 performances on Canada Day.
The 1st performance saw the joined bands parade down the Harbourfront to open the official celebrations. Following the opening ceremonies the Winnipeg crew played several medleys from their repertoire for the gathered crowds. Both the parade and the informal concert were well received by everyone.
After a quick lunch break (sandwiches and goodies by Theresa Burns) in the parking lot at Keewatin Public School, the bands tuned up again, The two bands performed several medleys for the folks enjoying the Mather-Walls House Strawberry Social. The Kenora Scottish have been performing at this event for close to 40 years – one of the band’s longest standing engagements.
