St. Alban’s Robbie Burns Dinner – January 27, 2024

St. Alban’s Robbie Burns Dinner, January 27, 2024

On January 27, 2024, St. Alban’s Cathedral of Kenora hosted a “Robbie Burns” dinner. Wes Sheppard and Amanda Todoschuk, were invited to play bagpipes for the after dinner entertainment. Wes Sheppard piped in the haggis, and the little lady who had to carry the plate, was less than impressed with how long it took him to circle the tables – she told him that it was quite heavy!

Dinner was delicious, and included cock-a-leekie soup, haggis, neeps and tatties, carrots, a beautiful roast beef entrée, and sweet desserts. The event had the room almost full and everyone enjoyed catching up with old friends.

After dinner, Wes and Amanda went to tune up for the evening’s performance. Amanda opened the show with a round of “Happy Birthday” for Robert Burns, then went into a little 4/4 march followed by one more set by herself. Wes joined Amanda on stage where they played a couple of sets together. Afterwards, Wes went into a beautiful round of tunes that everyone enjoyed tremendously. Wes told a couple of stories, and then Amanda rejoined him to play “Amazing Grace”. Wes & Amanda marched off the floor to one more tune, and then the evening wrapped up.
