Annual Cadet Review

Annual Cadet Review – Private David Kejick, DCM, Kenora, Ontario (June 13, 2023)

On June 13, 2023, the Kenora Scottish Pipes and Drums with the assistance of several members of the Winnipeg St. Andrews Pipe Band, piped the Army and Air Cadets into the drill hall at the Private David Kejick, DCM, Armoury for their annual review and awards ceremony.

In addition to piping the cadets in and out of the drill hall, the St. Andrews contingent (including Lori Hoppe, Amanda Toduschuk and Gale Walker – who also play for Kenora Scottish)  entertained those gathered with renditions of their competition March and Medley sets that they will be performing during their upcoming tour of Scotland. The remainder of the Kenora Scottish joined the St. Andrews crew to play “Amazing Grace”, led by Amanda Toduschuk’s solo. The combined bands marched out with the cadets to end the ceremonies with the retreats, “Green Hills of Tyrol” and “When the Battles O’er”.

After the bands and cadets were dismissed, everyone was treated to cupcakes and got a chance to chat with the cadets and their families.

Special thanks to our friends with the St. Andrews Pipe Band Liam and Macy Forster and those who made the trek down from Winnipeg for this special occasion – Jeff, Kirby, Taryn, Uncle Andy and Tara. A very special thanks to St. Andrews’ Pipe-Major Wes Sheppard who helped to get both bands tuned and for all of his ongoing help with the Kenora Scottish. A big “Atta Boy” goes out to Ethan Longe for his very first public performance on the snare drum – you rocked it buddy. Keep up the good work!
