Saskatchewan Highland Games – May 20-21, 2017

Even though the Kenora Scottish Pipes & Drums Band did not participate in the Saskatchewan Highland Games held in Regina on May 20-21, 2017, there is a reason for including this item here. Kenora Scottish’s own Liam Forster, Kenora Scottish’s youngest snare drummer competed as a solo drummer in the weekend’s competitions. This was Liam’s first competition and even though his marks were not high enough to place him in the top 6, the judges were so impressed with his performance that he won for the “Most Promising Young Drummer” at the tournament. Way to go Liam! For his effort, Liam won a week-long scholarship to the Sound Advice 2017 Summer School to be held in Regina (valued at $450). Liam has been playing snare drum with the Kenora Scottish Pipes and Drums for the past 3 years.
